INVISIBLE, made of 100% polyester by GUNOLD GmbH, is used wherever fastenings need to be as invisible as possible. This special transparent thread is suitable both for sewing and embroidery projects where the thread is meant to recede into the background, as well as for embroidering sequins, beads, cords, and ribbons. Furthermore, as an embroidery thread for large-scale designs, it opens up interesting creative possibilities. INVISIBLE really showcases its creative qualities in fashion: The transparent effect creates subtle looks, adds delicate design accents, and gives embroidery a delicate, extraordinary appearance.
Transparency Meets Functionality
With a fineness of Nm 92, this polyester monofilament combines a nearly invisible appearance with high tensile strength. Its soft feel and dimensional stability ensure excellent processing properties on embroidery and sewing machines. Compared to conventional nylon monofilaments, INVISIBLE offers noticeable advantages in terms of handling. This specialty yarn is certified according to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and is available in Clear (transparent) for light-colored fabrics and Smoke (smoke-colored) for dark fabrics.
“Thanks to its transparency, INVISIBLE practically plays with the color of the base fabric. On black fabrics, it creates a mysterious, almost mystical look,” says Reiner Knochel, owner of Textile Experience and external consultant at GUNOLD.
Based on GUNOLD’s experience, users particularly appreciate its pleasantly soft feel compared to other transparent monofilament threads. The two available color options offer additional flexibility. Although INVISIBLE is primarily used for the nearly invisible attachment of cords, sequins, or other appliqués, it can also be worked with just like a classic embroidery thread. Even embroidery files digitized for No. 40 thread can be embroidered with INVISIBLE without any adjustments.
Creative combinations are particularly appealing: For example, a motif can first be embroidered in satin stitch using a colored No. 40 embroidery thread and then slightly enlarged by over-embroidering it with INVISIBLE. The resulting transparency effect gives the motif additional depth and opens up a wide range of creative possibilities. This allows you to create delicate visual accents that are virtually impossible to achieve with conventional embroidery threads.
INVISIBLE is made of 100% polyester and is available in a fineness of 40 (92 Nm). The monofilament yarn is available in the colors Clear (transparent) and Smoke (smoke-colored) and is supplied on cones with a length of 21,100 m.
